Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety (BSB 41407)

Who should attend:

This course is aimed at people who work, or wish to work, as OHS Co-ordinators or Advisors at a workplace.

Entry Requirements:

There are no restrictions on entry to this course however participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction for:

  • Referencing and understanding legislation, standards and codes of practice
  • Consulting with workers and employers on safety issues
  • Preparing workplace health and safety reports

Participants will also need access to a workplace to enable completion of learning and assessment activities.

Pathways into the qualification:

Candidates may enter the qualification through a number of entry points including:

  • BSBOHS30707 Certificate III in Occupational Health and Safety or other relevent Certificate III qualification OR
  • With extensive vocational in Occupational Health and Safety roles.

Examples of indicative job roles for candidates seeking entry based upon their vocational experience include:

  • Health and Safety Representative
  • Health and Safety Committee Member
  • Health and Safety Assistant

This breadth of expertise would equate to the competencies required to undertake this qualification.

Entry Requirements - Online Students:

As part of our ongoing commitment to Quality Assurance, All Participants wishing to undertake online studies with ACHS are required to complete a session with our Training Technician/Tutor in our Elluminate Virtual Office. (Elluminate is a free service - no additional fees payable)

The session will take place upon submission of the first assessment. To participate in this session, participants will need to have access to a webcam.

Participants who do not have access to a Webcam should contact the college to make alternate arrangements.

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving this qualification candidates may undertake:

  • BSBOHS51307 Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety.
