how do i apply for RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) means recognition of competencies currently held, regardless of how or where the learning occurred. This RPL may include any combination of formal and informal training, education, work experience or general life experience. In order to grant RPL the assessor must be certain that the student is currently competent against the endorsed industry or enterprise competency standards or outcomes specified in Australian Qualification Framework accredited courses.

For you to consider whether you have appropriate skills/knowledge to gain RPL for any or all of the units you must refer to the course rules and units. These are available by clicking on the links below.


BSBOHS501B: Participate in the coordination and maintenance of a systematic approach to managing OHS.

BSBOHS502B: Participate in the management of the OHS information and data systems.

BSBOHS503B: Assist in the design and development of OHS participative arrangements.

BSBOHS504B: Apply principles of OHS risk management.

BSBOHS505B: Manage hazards in the work environment.

BSBOHS506B: Monitor and facilitate the management of hazards associated with plant.

BSBOHS507B: Facilitate the application of principles of occupational health to control OHS risk.

BSBOHS508B: Participate in the investigation of incidents.

 

What sort of evidence will be required to support my RPL claim?

If you are considering RPL you may already have a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate you have the acquired the necessary knowledge and skills.

This evidence may be demonstrated in, but is not limited to: (must be within the last 5 years)

- Your resume
- Certificates of completed courses and qualifications
- Awards
- References from employers outlining your responsibilities
- Letters from clients
- Evaluations from supervisors
- Job descriptions
- Statutory Declaration

Also, you may choose to providing work samples or the following you may have created:

- Action Plans
- Completed Policies/Procedures
- Risk Assessments
- Incident Investigations

 

Is there a Reduction of Fees for successful units granted RPL?

A reduction in fees is not available.
The Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety qualification is made up of eight units and all of these units are eligible for RPL.
Whilst RPL will save you learning time it is often a more time consuming activity for the assessor hence no reduction in fees.
Crediting does not attract any reduction of fees

 

How do I enrol and apply for RPL?

Step 1: Proceed to the E-Learning Centre and create a new account.

Enrol for the RPL - Diploma OHS course.

Step 2: Complete the following documents and return to ACHS with deposit payment of $890.00.

- Enrolment form; AND

- RPL Expression of Interest Form
