Who Should Attend?
Employers and their management need to attend this short workshop, ideally with their workers, so they become aware that workplace harassment/bullying is an issue for all workplaces, irrespective of size. When not addressed, it can harm a person’s well being, becomes a significant drain on resources, reduce productivity and may have legal consequences for the employer and/or workers.
Purpose
This workshop introduces employers, supervisors and their workers to their obligations to remove all sources of bullying from the workplace. Workplace harassment/bullying can be defined as:
‘the repeated less favourable treatment of a person by another or others in the workplace, which may be considered unreasonable and inappropriate workplace practice’
Course Outcomes
On completion of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Explain how and why harassment/bullying might happen at the workplace
- Discuss the reasons for preventing workplace harassment/bullying
- Review legal obligations such as workplace health and safety and anti-discrimination legislation as well as industrial awards. Review Workplace Harassment Code of Practice.
- Find out if harassment/bullying exists at your workplace
- Develop and implement a plan to minimise workplace harassment/bullying including developing a company policy
- Provide training, education and awareness to all workers and management
