Who Should Attend?

State legislation requires that all persons with work activities related to confined space/s must undertake appropriate training and be assessed as competent, to perform those activites in accordance with AS2865:2009.  The relevant course should be chosen dependent on required outcome.  Supervisors and others responsible for confined space work should attend the Authorised Person course as a minimum and those who will work in confined spaces or assist those who work in confined spaces should attend Work Safely in a Confined Space.

Purpose

The courses are designed to provide learners with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to support site specific training in safe work procedures in confined spaces.  These courses are conducted in a flexible manner that will suit most clients.

Entry Requirements

There are no restrictions on entry to the course however participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction for:

• Referencing and understanding legislation, standards and codes of practice.
• Preparing workplace health and safety reports.
• Investigating work injuries, work caused illnesses and dangerous events.
• Consulting with workers, employers and statutory health and safety officials.

Assessment and Award

Participants who demonstrate competency by passing both the theory and practical assessments will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed.
