Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for all managers, supervisors, team leaders and frontline managers with a responsibility for production processes and workers who need to know how to comply with Workplace Health & Safety legislation.
Purpose
This course is introduces people to the requirements of the Workplace Health and Safety legislation, risk management concepts and methods for improving safety at the workplace.
Entry Requirements
Participants will be working in an appropriate role.
Course Outcomes
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the obligations of relevant parties as stated in the Workplace Health & Safety Act
- Describe the purpose and application of Advisory Standards and Industry Codes of Practice
- Explain the purpose of company policies and procedures
- Describe the functions of WHSO’s, Safety Representatives and Safety Committees
- Deal with emergency situations
- Describe the anatomy of an incident and conduct a basic accident investigation
- Conduct a hazard investigation and select appropriate controls for risk management
- Describe the risks and controls necessary for: confined spaces; hazardous substances; manual handling; noise; and plant
- Establish and maintain safety training programs
- Maintain safety records
- Evaluate the organisations OH&S systems, policies and procedures
