ACHS - A Milestone on the Baulderstone Hornibrook Safety Journey…
Multi-national construction company, Baulderstone Hornibrook, recently chose the ACHS to provide Workplace Health & Safety Officer (WHSO), and Construction elective training courses for their employees.
The WHSO course is aimed at people who work, or wish to work, as Workplace Health and Safety Officers at a workplace or construction workplace in accordance with the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995. It is also an ideal course for managers, supervisors or workers who have been elected as Safety Representatives for their workplace.
Baulderstone Hornibrook have a strong commitment to Health & Safety and have developed the Baulderstone Hornibrook “Safety Journey”, an innovative safety program focused on reducing workplace accidents, injuries and illnesses through behavioural change. David Briffa, Baulderstone Hornibrook’s Queensland Safety Representative, commented:
“We believe people give their best performance in a secure and healthy environment. Our reputation and profitability depend upon our ability to manage our operations safely, and our approach is based upon consultation, learning and continual improvement.”
The college is delighted to be part of the Baulderstone Hornibrook “Safety Journey” and is looking forward to meeting more of their Queensland team when further training takes place next month.

Finally a Valid Excuse for Being Late to Work!
We at the ACHS pride ourselves on providing the best - and that includes providing the best excuse for running late for work! While most of us struggle to dream up a plausible reason for tardiness, our own Mark Baird found the ultimate way to be excused, when he called the office to say he was running late for work as he had to put out a fire.
Mark is a volunteer fire-fighter and training officer with the Narangba Rural Fire Station and was called out to attend to a house fire. After putting out the fire, Mark dutifully returned to work – the true ACHS professional!
“I thought your content was the best presented of all I've seen”
It seems even our trainers can't get enough of the ACHS. Julia Bunn, Principal Consultant / Occupational Therapist for Easec Occupational Health, recently sent us this glowing testimonial;
“Thankyou for the opportunity to present the WPR100 course on behalf of the Australasian College of Health & Safety…
I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the work, and received very positive feedback from the participants. I also wanted to let you know that I was very impressed with the course content. I have trained this course many times for different organisations, and thought your content was the best presented of all I've seen.”
